A Walk in the Rain

Erich at the lagoon
How many other people do I know who would walk in the rain with me?

Calm Bay

Don't run with scissors.
Don't talk to strangers.
Don't follow a man with a hack saw into the deep dark woods.
I was always pretty good about the first two but yesterday I followed the man with the hack saw.
Turns out he just wanted to trim some branches so we could see the sun set over Calm Bay from a rocky cliff...some risks are worth taking!

Better

When President Obama downed a pint of Guinness Stout in Moneygall, County Offaly,
Ireland he remarked that the Guinness in Ireland tastes better than the Guinness in
America.  I'm not the only visitor to Ireland who has observed this!
President and Mrs.  Barack Obama drink Guinness stout in Ollie Hayes pub in Moneygall, Ireland, the ancestral homeland of his great-great-great grandfather,
 Monday, May 23, 2011.
It's true! Whether it's just the atmosphere of the Irish Pub and the colorful people you meet there, how it's poured, or that it's brewed in Ireland rather than Canada (ours is "imported" from there) I don't know. I just know it was undeniably BETTER on the Emerald Isle!

Too Many Photos

Given a remarkable view or event or a situation deemed in the moment to be rare or fleeting I tend to take too many photographs.  Then I get home and download.  Sometimes I end up with lots of bad photos and wish I'd done things differently.  Sometimes I end up with lots of great photos and with or without editing have trouble deciding which are the best, which are worth sharing, which I should just delete, which just need a simple change to make them outstanding.  I guess that's what separates me from the professionals.
Example - here are a few pics of a Lake Michigan sunset with some ice still on the surface.

Horizontal ...

...or Vertical?
Add some foreground?...Too much?

More sky.....

...or more water?

By the way...
"Horizontal?" and "..or more water?" are my favorites,
and I do like foreground in my sunsets if the clouds are sparse.

Sierra looks content
Jenice and Sierra

We went to visit Jared, Nicollette and their new baby. Congratulations Hammonds!

Little Sierra is just 3 weeks old and I got a taste for what it will be like to see my kids with their baby later this year....I think they're naturals!

Bin Laden is Dead

Special Report at 10:45 pm that Osama Bin Laden is dead, killed by U.S. forces.  I cannot bring myself to post a photo.  ABC World News:

"Osama bin Laden, hunted as the mastermind behind the worst ever terrorist attack on U.S. soil, has been killed, sources told ABC News.
Bin Laden was killed in a ground attack by Joint Special Operations Command forces working with the CIA, not a drone strike, a national security source told ABC News."
